Christ the Passover – Feast of Passover 5

Let’s get back to business. How did Jesus fulfill the Passover?

Let’s take a look at this.. shall we?

Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ, our Passover also has been sacrificed.

1 Corinthians 5:7

In the days of Moses, when God was finally executing judgment. He announced that He would pass through Egypt to judge everybody, animal and god of that empire.

However, there had to be a mark of appeasement from a blameless lamb’s sacrifice under God’s instructions.

When He passes through and encounters a house with that mark, He would “pass over” (hop over) that household.

That event was a shadow of the grand scheme of God’s plan for the whole world.

All humanity had sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. The amazing glory for which God created humans to be. And Judgement was to be executed to all men..

Take a look at this:

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Romans 5: 8‭-‬10

Go back to the scene with the Egyptians.

✅ They were considered enemies of God because of their acts

✅ The same way every sinner is considered an enemy to God.

✅ They incurred God’s wrath – God’s judgement for their acts. The same goes to all of humanity

But Paul says here that the blood of Jesus justified us and saved us from God’s wrath.

So just like in Egypt.. remember, not only Israelites were saved. Foreigners too. Everyone who applied that blood of the blameless lamb was “passed over “

No one was justified by their acts. They were justified by the blood. God saw the blood and passed over. Regardless of their nationality, gods served or act done.

The life that was given by the blameless lamb was what saved everyone that day.

Jesus came to fulfill the feast of the Passover in that through His death…He was sacrificed as the blameless lamb for the whole world.

In the event that God passes through with judgment for sin, He would pass over anyone who has applied that blood of the lamb.

They become justified in God’s Sight. For He sees the blood and hops over.

This is a short piece. I’ll return to fully process after the topic of the feasts. When we begin to discuss topics like redemption and judgment.

The church as a corporate body fulfilled the Passover in Christ. We have passed from death to life.

Thanks for reading… Hope you gained something from this.
